Halloween takes a bit of balance with the fun. You have to judge how able your kids are of handling the costumes and some of the scarier books. But if they are dressing up to go trick or treating at home, most kids will want to parade around the classrooms in their costumes.

Pumpkins
5 LITTLE PUMPKINS
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one says, “My it’s getting late.”
The 2nd one says, “There are witches in the air”
The 3rd one says, “But we don’t care.”
The 4th one says, “Isn’t Halloween fun?”
The 5th one says, “We’d better run.”
Ooooh went the wind and out went the lights.
And the 5 little pumpkins rolled out of sight.
Pumpkin Sequencing Cards
Have the children practice sequencing by arranging the cards in order of how a pumpkin grows and becomes a jack-o-lantern.
Sorting Pumpkins By Size
Have diffent sized pumpkins or pictures of pumpkins to let the children practice sorting them by size.
Jack-O-Lanterns
Paint a pumpkin pattern orange and add black eyes, nose and moutha and add a green stem.
Paint a jack-o-lantern pattern with the eyes, nose and mouth cut out, orange and add a stem and then put yellow cellophane on the back, so the sun can shine through when hung in a window.
My Jack-o-Lantern
I'M AN ORANGE PUMPKIN
I'm an orange pumpkin, big and round.
Once upon a time I grew on the ground.
I have a mouth, two eyes, a nose.
What am I do you suppose?
A Jack-o-Lantern with a light,
To shine at you on Halloween night.
Actually Cut Open A Pumpkin
Show your classroom the inside of a pumpkin and pull out the pulp and seeds if they want to. You can also wash the seeds to plant or roast. If you have time you can carve it into a jack-o-lantern.
Ghost Feet
One at a time have the children take off one shoe and sock. Paint the bottom of that foot with white paint and place on a dark paper with their toes at the bottom. When it's dry add eyes and open mouth to make a ghost.
Candy Corn
Cut out a large candy corn pattern and let the children paint it yellow on the bottom and orange in the middle leaving the top portion white.
You can also have older kids make candy corn by placing small colored tissue paper on contact paper and after closing it cut it out into a candy corn shape.

Trick or Treat Halloween
TRICK OR TREATERS
Tune: I'm A Little Teapot
I'm a trick or treater set to go,
Here is my flashlight. I'll walk slow.
I always say thank you for my treats,
and always look for cars before crossing the street.
WE'RE NOT AFRAID
Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Ghosts and witches, cats and bats,
We are not afraid of that.
They are only make – believe,
Funny costumes on Halloween.
Ghosts and witches, cats and bats,
We are not afraid of that.
Add Halloween Costumes To Housekeeping
Bring in a variety of Halloween costumes for the children to try on and talk about how we can pretend to be other people.
Elmo Mask
Cut out elmo eyes from a paper plate and sponge paint it red and when it's dry add a orange nose and a black mouth.
Cookie Monster Mask

Clifford's Halloween
Trick Or Treat Little Critter
ON HALLOWEEN
We mask our faces and wear strange hats,
And moan like withches, and screach like cats,
And jump like goblins, and run like elves,
and almost manage to scare ourselves.
SCARY EYES
See my big and scary eyes?
Look out now for a BIG SURPRISE—BOO!
Masks
Look in the mirror while we put on and take off our masks. Discuss how the person is the same under the mask.
Spider Webs
Record Player Webs - If you have an old record player with the slower 16 speed, mix a little white paint and shaving cream to a glue bottle, you don't mind tossing when done. Then place a black piece of paper on the record player platter, and let the children squirt glue while the paper spins in spirals. When done, add the lines out from the center and attach a plastic ring spider or a nut cup spider.
Roller Ball Webs - Place black paper in a tub or pie pan and put some small balls or larger marbles in white paint to have the kids tilt them all around painting a white spider web. When it's dry you can attach a spider of your choice.
Humbug Witch
Inside a House That Is Haunted
THREE LITTLE WITCHES
Tune: One Little Two Little Three Little Indians
One little, two littl,e three little witches,
Fly over haystacks & fly over ditches,
Fly over moonbeams without any hitches.
Hey its Halloween night.
One little, two little, three little witches,
Fly over barb wire and tore there britches,
Had to go home and get some stitches.
Hey its Halloween night.
Humbug Witch
Have an adult volunteer act out the story of the Humbug Witch so that children can see that under the costume is a familiar person.
