Train Center
It's going to be a Thomas and his friends train center day. Have fun building one track and then change it to another. You could also set up an old time electric train track if available or take a field trip to visit one.
Sorting Pictures of Different Modes of Transportation
Print off as many differnt pictures of transportation that you can think of and sort them by air travel, water travel, rail travel, or roads.

Build A Boat
I've went to local grocery store and gotten the small clean styrofoam trays from the meat department and added a bit of playdough to stick a mast with a sail into to make a sailing boat. You can also use the paper boat pattern found in the Curious George Rides A Bike book. Then have fun floating them in the water table.

Water Table Center
Add all kinds of boats to the water table. You can make some paper boats and see how long they float. Discuss remote controlled boats.
How Do We Get There
Use a globe to pick a random point, and then discuss which modes of transportation you would take to get there. You could expand by having examples of train tickets or plane tickets and talk about how much it would cost to travel there.

Let the children color, decorate a piece of paper that they fold into a paper airplane. I usually staple where they put their fingers and have fun.

Pretend To Fly on An Airplane
Pack your bags, travel through the airport, board the plane, stow the backpacks, fasten your seat belts and prepare for take off. Listen to a recording of a flight attendent. Then imagine the things you would see out your window.
